There are two schools of thought on this issue. There are those management companies that
move away from centralized accounting with the good intent and desire to have all of the
property managers involved with the accounting and control functions and that produce their
own financial documents. And then there are those management companies who believe that
a centralized accounting operation is the only way to go.
We subscribe to both.
We expect and encourage full participation by each hotels management team in the
production of their financial plans.
We agree that this is the best way to get not only hands on involvement but also get first hand
commitment by each respective manager in the achievement of doin what they agreed to do.
But we also recognize that the production of financials and payrolls and a myriad other
documents and procedures can take away from the focus of taking care of our guests and
our employees. Therefore we process all of the financials at our Atlanta corporate office
where we can also enjoy the technical efficiencies and payroll efficiencies.
Unannounced internal audits are conducted to ensure that all hotels are operating within
established rules of accounting.
