President and CEO
Gunars Dvelis, CHA

As founder and CEO of Letap Management
Mr.Dvelis brings with him a wealth of experience.
A 35 years hospitality industry veteran Dvelis began
his career as a dishwasher at the Holiday Inn in Troy
New York. He was promoted to General Manager
in 1973 by Allen & O’Hara Management where he
served for 11 years managing four of their hotels
including their flagship hotel in Providence, RI
From there he went to Interstate Hotels where he
did his “internship” at the Marriott Hotel in Providence
and managed their Marriott Hotel in Syracuse, NY.
He then went on to manage the Hilton Boston Back Bay
a four star/diamond hotel for Commenwealth Hotels.

He was recruited by Servico Hotels and Resorts
now Lodgian in 1981 and served 18 years where
in addition to managing 9 hotels for the company with
brands such as Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Omni, Sheraton,
Radisson and Doubletree, he served as a “turn around”
manager assigned to improve the company’s poorly
producing hotels all of which went on to success.
He opened three hotels from the ground up in
Louisville, KY, the Sheraton Hotel Langhorne, PA and
the Hilton Hotel Huntington Long Island in Mellville, NY.  
He also developed and implemented the company’s
Room Revenue Management program dubbed “MORK”
which added two million dollars more in the first year
to the company’s overall room revenues.

He was then asked by Servico to serve as a
Project manager under Don Shouldice the company’s
Vice President during a year the company was spending
80 million dollars on improvements at it’s hotels.
During that period, and for three years, in addition to
serving as a construction manager overseeing projects at
six hotels he displayed a unique talent to design.
He was asked to design five of the company’s restaurants
and nightclubs all of which enjoyed increased revenues.
He received a number of awards for design including
best bar for his design at the Hilton Detroit/Troy, Michigan
by the City’s improvement Committee and a best design
award for his mixed use Restaurant/bar at the
Holiday Inn Holidome in Richfield, Ohio.

Among business leadership position held he served
as the Chairman of the Albany County Convention
and Visitors Bureau and the President of the Albany
Hotel and Motel association while managing the
384 room Hilton Hotel in Albany, NY.

Dvelis went to LaSalle Military Institute in Troy, NY
and graduated as Cadet Captain.
He has an AAS degree from HVCC in Troy, NY.
And is a Certified Hotel Administrator by the AH&LA
Educational Institute.

He is married and has three children Kristen, Jason and
Max.
